Toyota’s $1,000 Rebate Program for College Graduates Now Includes the New Prius c
The all-new Prius c joins the 2012 Toyota Prius family of vehicles, which were recently named “Best Green Car to Buy 2012” by GreenCarReports.com. The letter “c” in the Prius c moniker represents “city” and it was indeed designed specifically with city-dwelling millennials in mind. It functions as an urban-friendly vehicle with an engaging driving experience, accessible price, a city fuel economy rating of 53 mpg and available convenient and advanced in-car electronics features such as Entune™ technology. It is the ideal vehicle for the recent college graduate in the market for a fuel-efficient and tech-savvy solution to their transportation needs.

The College Rebate Program for Toyota vehicles ends January 2, 2013 and is available to qualified customers who graduated within the last two years, or are about to graduate within the next six months.
How to Qualify: You must meet all of these conditions:
- Get that degree! To take advantage of the program you must:
- Have graduated from an accredited four-year college, university, or registered nursing degree program during the last two years or graduate from such a school/program within the next six months, or
- Have graduated from an accredited two-year college during the last two years, or
- Be enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program or have received a degree from an accredited graduate program during the last two years, or
- Have graduated during the last two years from the two-year Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN) Program or any other two-year post secondary automotive program accredited by the NATEF, or
- Have completed an electrician apprenticeship/cert. program during the last two years through NJATC and IBEW.

- Get a job! Show proof of present employment, or future employment with a start date within 120 days of your purchase contract date. TFS must deem your salary sufficient to cover living expenses and vehicle payments.
- Minor credit lapses allowed! Obligations paid within 60 days or less of the due date and non-credit related (e.g., rent, utilities, health club membership, etc.) charge-offs less than $1,000 in the past 24 months are acceptable.

Toyota's TABC Plant Celebrates 40 Years of Manufacturing in California
Toyota Auto Body California, Inc., (TABC), Toyota’s first manufacturing investment in the U.S., today celebrated its 40th anniversary with team members, government and community officials, suppliers and executives.
TABC, originally known as Atlas Fabricators, contracted with Toyota in 1972 to produce truck beds for vehicles destined for the U.S. Two years later, Toyota purchased the operations and renamed it TABC, becoming the first manufacturing investment in the U.S. for Toyota.
Today, TABC employs 470 and its investment tops $270 million. It produces stamped and welded parts, steering columns and catalytic converters for a number of Toyota’s vehicle assembly plants in North America and Japan and tests, inspects and repackages end-of-life hybrid vehicle batteries.
“The spirit of family is what makes TABC unique,” said Atsushi Niimi, executive vice president and member of the board of Toyota Motor Corporation. “As our first manufacturing plant in the U.S., TABC’s rich history represents Toyota’s commitment to outstanding teamwork and continuous improvement.”
“TABC has played a vital role in Toyota’s formula for success in the U.S.,” said Mike Bafan, president of TABC. “And our mission was clear; to set the stage for Toyota’s growth by building the best products. And over these 40 years, we have proven ourselves as a world-class manufacturer with an outstanding workforce that’s dedicated to safety and quality.”

Toyota Financial Services Funds Will Benefit Underserved Students Through Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Other Non-Profit Partners
oyota Financial Services (TFS) today announced the expansion of its Making Life Easier scholarship program to $1 million for 2013, which will provide scholarships to underserved students through Boys & Girls Clubs of America as well as other TFS non-profit partners including North High School, All Peoples Community Center, Community’s Child, 1736 Family Crisis Center, and Los Angeles Team Mentoring.
The announcement took place at a Community Day event held on the Toyota Financial Services main campus where more than 350 students and their families, Toyota associates and special guests gathered to celebrate the students’ academic achievement.
Since 2007 Toyota Financial Services has provided scholarships to deserving students from local non-profit partners including students from the East Los Angeles Boys & Girls Clubs who have demonstrated academic achievement and served as role models by volunteering in their community. As part of TFS’ national giving strategy, the Making Life Easier scholarships program allows economically disadvantaged youth to pursue their higher education goals by providing up to $20,000 for university, college, trade or vocational school tuition and fees. To date, TFS has provided $1.4 million in scholarships to nearly 400 local Boys & Girls Club students and more than $2.3 million in direct funding to the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles and $6.4 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and other Clubs across the country to support after-school programs and family economic development programs.
Earlier this year, Toyota partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to announce the establishment of Diplomas to Degrees - or D2D, an intensive college readiness program funded by an initial $1.5 million grant from Toyota over three years to help provide tools, resources and support to Boys & Girls Club teens to better prepare them to move from high school to college graduates. This year, nine Boys & Girls Clubs piloting the D2D program participated in the Making Life Easier scholarship program and as a result TFS is awarding $85,000 in scholarships to D2D students from across the country.
“Toyota Financial Services is building on six years of success and expanding our Making Life Easier scholarship program will enable us to reach thousands of kids on a national level,” said George Borst, President and CEO of Toyota Financial Services. “We are committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work, and through our partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and other non-profits we are able to engage with really inspirational and courageous students and become a part of their lives.”
Among the students honored at the Community Day event, local Boys & Girls Clubs of East LA student Ivonne Gonzalez who received a $20,000 scholarship shared her story how at a young age she overcame life challenges and financial difficulties, while managing to keep good grades and serve as positive role model within her community. Also recognized was Brian Miller from San Antonio, Texas who was one of the Making Life Easier Scholars through the Diplomas to Degrees Program for 2012.
“We are so proud and thrilled to congratulate the students honored here today,” said Judith J. Pickens, Senior VP of Program & Youth Development Services, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “The hard work of these Club members and the support they receive through our programs and our ongoing partnership with Toyota helps to build stronger communities by creating hope and opportunity for underserved young people here and across the country.”
The Community Day event featured special guests from Boys & Girls Clubs of America including former L.A. Laker and retired NBA star, philanthropist, and Boys & Girls Club alum AC Green, who congratulated the students on their achievements.
In addition, TFS associates held their annual “Back to School Drive” where they support deserving local youth by donating backpacks, school supplies, and other necessities to start the school year off right. Associates “adopt” a student and help set them up for success this school year by purchasing school supplies and then assist stuffing the backpacks. This year’s annual Back to School Drive yielded more than 700 backpacks for underserved students.

'Personal Branding Initiative' to Help Veterans Translate Skills for Employment
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. announced today a partnership with Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation as part of an ongoing initiative to support returning troops and veterans making the transition from military to civilian jobs. Sgt. Meyer, the first living Marine in three decades to receive the Medal of Honor, will be appearing at various Hiring Our Heroes job fairs around the country to meet with veterans and help them understand the importance of personal branding and how to translate military skills to future employers.
Toyota, Hiring Our Heroes and Sgt. Meyer recognized an existing void in the veteran job market and the need for skill translation tools to bridge the gap between military credentials and civilian job descriptions. Working in unison to develop personal branding collateral, today will mark the beginning of distribution of those materials at 400 job fairs around the country.
Speaking at a job fair for veterans at Quantico Marine Base, Don Esmond, Senior Advisor, Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. and former Marine, said “The U.S. is currently facing an unemployment rate for post 9-11 veterans of more than 12%, which has the potential to increase as troops return home from overseas. We believe the Personal Branding Initiative is an important step forward in addressing this challenge because it helps veterans translate their military experience into marketable skills. Toyota is honored to be partnering with Sgt. Dakota Meyer and Hiring Our Heroes and we pledge our full support to the program.”
As a former Marine sniper, Sgt. Meyer has first-hand knowledge and experience of the challenges facing military veterans as they try to acclimate and integrate into civilian life after their turn of duty. Working closely with Toyota and Hiring Our Heroes, he will be offering his unique insights to the tools being developed, as well as speaking about the importance of personal branding. Sgt. Meyer will be appearing at numerous job fairs around the country to help spread awareness to the U.S. veteran community.
“I was a sniper in the U.S. Marine Corps, so I understand firsthand how hard translating a military skill to a civilian skill can be. Toyota understands the gap that exists when veterans apply to jobs and face specific challenges in matching future employers job descriptions,” said Sgt. Dakota Meyer. “Our country has been served by the people that make up the best employees – where qualities like loyalty, commitment and hard work are not only required, but honored. Since my return from service, I’ve been very passionate about doing what I can to help veterans. I believe this partnership with Toyota and the Hiring Our Heroes will take those efforts to the next level. I’m excited to be involved and look forward to spreading the word to veterans across the country.”
Toyota’s partnership with Hiring Our Heroes will include prominent displays at job fairs around the country, as well as the ongoing development and promotion of personal branding materials that have been collaboratively developed. Toyota will also have a seat on the Veterans Employment Advisory Council (VEAC) in the Chairman’s Circle, the highest level that a brand can participate with the U.S. Chamber.

Third Group of 25 Winners Announced in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good Program
Toyota today announced the third group of winners of Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, a national philanthropic program that is awarding 100 cars to 100 nonprofits over the course of 100 consecutive days. Winners are selected each day through public voting on Facebook at www.100carsforgood.com.
Each day through August 21, five nonprofit organizations will be profiled on the 100 Cars for Good Facebook page. Registered Facebook users are able to vote once daily for the nonprofit they think can do the most good for the community with a new vehicle. The organization with the most votes at the end of the day wins a new Toyota vehicle. The four runners-up each receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota.
“As we approach close of 100 Cars for Good, it is exciting and humbling to see how many communities and organizations Toyota touches through this program,” said Jim Lentz, president and chief executive officer of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. “With hundreds of thousands of votes through the program thus far, it’s clear that the public is engaged and invested in seeing Toyota vehicles make their way into the community. We look forward to seeing what the last leg of the 2012 program will bring.”
The majority of the third group of 25 winners (the first 25 winners were announced in June and the second group in early July) provide services in a variety of areas, including: animal welfare, education, food banks, and human services for children and adults.

Public voting for the 100 Cars for Good program began on May 14 and will continue through August 21. Voters may place one vote per day, each day, over the course of the program. Each day, the previous day’s winner will be announced and five new nonprofit organizations will be featured for voting. Winning organizations can choose from the following vehicles: Camry Hybrid, Highlander SUV, Prius v Hybrid, Sienna minivan, Sienna Mobility or Tundra full-sized pickup. A six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty is also provided for each vehicle, compliments of Toyota Financial Services.
The 500 finalists, from which the 100 winners were ultimately selected, were certified by an independent panel of judges who are experts in the fields of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility.
